    Man alleges theft of pistol, Sh570,000 in Machakos

    Police are investigating claims by a businessman that he was robbed of his pistol and Sh570,000 in an attack in Kyumbi area, Machakos County.

    The victim is a licensed firearm holder.

    The man told police he had on Christmas Day visited his gas plant in the area and was leaving the site when he was attacked by a lone man on a motorbike.

    He told police his car was stuck in a ditch and as he got out to check on the issue, a lone gunman struck.

    The man pointed a gun at him and ordered him to surrender the weapon he had on his waist holster.

    The victim claimed the gunman grabbed his pistol and an envelope that had the cash that was in the car before he walked away to a waiting motorbike.

    The victim said during the drama, the pistol magazine fell off from the Glock pistol. He collected it and presented the same to the police at Kyumvi.

    Police said they are investigating the claims.

    And a driver and three passengers were robbed of cash and other valuables by people who had posed as passengers in need of a lift in Nyamira’s Ekerenyo area.

    The driver told police that he had set of a trip to Nairobi with his salon car from Rongo where he picked up two passengers at a fee.

    On reaching Kisii Town, he picked up six more men who said they would alight in Nyamira Town. Little did he know the six were thugs.

    The victims said on reaching the Konate area, the six turned out to be robbers and took control of the Probox in the December 26 incident.

    They turned towards the Keroka route as others robbed the victims of their cash and other valuables.

    The victims told police they lost their mobile phone, Sh7,000, shoes and food items. One of the mobile phones had an M Shwari account with Sh200,000.

    The car stalled along Magonga-Ekerenyo road after it had a puncture forcing the gang to abandon it and escape.

    The victims were left shaken. Police said they are investigating the incident.
