A man aged 18 was electrocuted as he illegally connected power from a main power line in Iyabe, Suneka, Kisii County.

Police said Steve Ogero had climbed a main Kenya Power and Lighting electricity pole with live wires along the Suneka-Rongo Highway and was armed with a pliers when he was electrocuted.

Police and Kenya Power officials said Ogero was tampering with the power supply to connect to their home when he was electrocuted.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police and Kenya Power officials said they recovered the pliers with a rubber insulator still stuck to the line and a sisal rope that he was using in the mission. Such incidents are common as villagers seek to have power supply to their homes because of the high cost of connection.

There is an ongoing campaign to address the menace.

Ane detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found on the roadside in Mpeketoni area, Lamu County.

The body had visible injuries on the head and stab wounds on the palm when it was discovered, police said.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established. Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

In Marmanet, Nyahururu, Laikipia County, one Michael Gathekia, 74 was found dead in his home after a suspected murder.

The man had failed to deliver milk to a home near there as usual prompting the recipients to go and check on him when they stumbled on the body.

Police said the body had visible bruises and his three sheep were missing. The motive of the murder is yet to be established. The man lived alone and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations, police said.
