    Man fatally punched in fight in Kiamaiko

    A 19-year-old man died after he had been punched in the chest in a fight in Kiamaiko area, Huruma, Nairobi County.

    Police said Abraham John was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital on Tuesday morning following a fight among a group of about eight people.

    It is not clear what prompted the fight. Police said the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.

    Police staged an operation in the area and arrested seven suspects over the murder.

    Tension remained high in the area amid fears of more fight, which police link to control of businesses.

    Elsewhere in Rumuruti, Laikipia County, police are investigating the murder of a 35-year-old woman by a gang in an attack.

    Tabitha Kendi was attacked on Tuesday dawn as she and her husband walked from their place of work to their home.

    The couple operated a bar business in the area. They were about 200 meters to their house when they were confronted by an unknown number of men who attacked them and in the process, Kendi was stabbed in the right side of her chest above the breast by use of a sharp object and died instantly.

    The gang escaped without stealing anything from the woman. It is not clear why she was targeted. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

    In Soin, Kericho County, six acres of land of sugarcane plantation were destroyed in a fire incident.

    Police said the fire was started intentionally and the motive is yet to be known. The incident happened on Monday in Koguta village and local youths were accused of being behind the same. No arrest has been made over the incident.

    In Kaptebengwet, Konoin, Bomet County, one suspect was arrested and 50 kilos of fresh tea leaves recovered from him in a police operation. Police said a group of youth was illegally plucking tea leaves at a plantation prompting the operation.

    The police are investigating the trend in the area.
