A 29-year-old man was rushed to Makindu Sub-County Hospital in critical condition after reportedly mutilating his penis in a shocking incident that has left residents stunned.

The incident happened in Chyandulu Village in Muuni Sub-Location, Nguumo Location, Makueni County, police said.

The man is alleged to have used a sharp object to cut his private parts on Wednesday October 1 under circumstances that remain unclear.

He was discovered by family members and quickly rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

The incident was reported by his 70-year-old father who found him in pain. The father and his other son found the victim crying for attention and raised an alarm.

The two men escorted the injured to Makindu Sub-County Hospital where he is currently receiving medical care.

Medical personnel at the facility confirmed the man had severed his penis and efforts to help him were ongoing.

The motive of the man’s actions was not immediately established. Police said they are investigating the tragedy.

Meanwhile, a herder was shot and injured in a robbery incident targeting livestock in Buuri, Meru County.

Police said the attackers drove off with more than 100 animals.

The victim was shot in the neck and left with serious injuries, police said.
