A man killed his wife before he died by suicide in Emitiot village, Longisa, Bomet County.

According to the police, Nicodemus Rotich, 33 was found dead with his body hanging on a tree in a thicket with a rope tied around his neck.

It later emerged that he had killed his wife in their house before he walked about two kilometers away where he hanged himself.

The body of his wife identified as Jedida Rotich, 28 was found on the bed in the house minutes later after the Friday January 9 incident. The body had head injuries.

Their neighbors said the couple had quarreled over the sale of a piece of land in the area.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.

Elsewhere in Mukurweini, Nyeri County, a woman was found dead after a suspected murder.

She was identified as Mary Wangari Wanjau. She was 85, locals said.

The incident happened in a house in Karia village where she had been living alone.

Police said the body was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood inside her two bedroom permanent house.

Police said she had signs of backhead injury and that a blood stained wood believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from the scene and kept as an exhibit.

The body moved to Mukurweini sub county hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

In Muungano, Machakos County, a man’s attempt to save a woman from a violent husband turned tragic when he was hit in the head and died.

The husband followed her to the house prompting the owner of the home to intervene.
