A middle-aged woman was found murdered in a lodging in Mukuru Fuata Nyayo area, Nairobi.
Detectives are investigating the murder where the woman identified as Farhia Ahmed was found with injuries on her back of the head and blood was oozing from her nose after her murder on September 1, 2025.
Her assailant who had checked into the room with her the previous night was missing.
He had escaped the scene after the murder, police said adding the hunt on him is ongoing.
According to officials at the facility, the couple paid Sh400 to access and occupy the room on Sunday night.
On Monday morning, the caretaker of the facility said she realized the room was partially open.
She went in and stumbled on the lifeless body of the woman on the bed with blood oozing from the nose.
She raised an alarm and informed the police who visited the scene and confirmed the woman had died.
Police said they are looking for a known suspect in the murder probe. The team that visited the scene said they had not established the motive of the murder. It is not clear the time the suspect escaped.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Cases of murder of women have been on the rise prompting the government to form a team to investigate the trend and its causes. The team is yet to complete their study and table the report.
Police say they are also racing to solve the cases so far reported. Some of the cases are pending in courts while others are still unsolved amid efforts to get the assailants and establish the motive, police say.
A special homicide unit is focusing on the cases.
