A 40-year-old man and a suspected thief have died following a violent incident in Amerik wai ‘A’ Village, Angorom Location, Teso South Sub-County, Busia County.

Kennedy Ojiambo Wandera was attacked and stabbed by an unknown assailant after stepping outside his house to investigate noises made by his chickens at around 3:30am on October 14, 2026.

Wandera had been sleeping when he heard the chickens making unusual noises outside his house. He reportedly opened the door to investigate but was attacked with a sharp knife shortly after stepping outside.

He fell to the ground while screaming for help, prompting his wife and son to rush outside.

The two reportedly saw a male suspect fleeing the scene while carrying a knife. Wandera’s son pursued the suspect while raising the alarm, attracting a large number of neighbours.

The residents managed to corner the suspect before subjecting him to mob justice. He later succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault.

Meanwhile, Wandera was rushed to Busia County Referral Hospital with serious stab wounds to his right rib area, right upper arm and left armpit. He, however, died while receiving treatment.

    Police officers visited the scene.

The two bodies were subsequently moved to Busia County Referral Mortuary, where they were preserved pending postmortem examinations.

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing and the subsequent mob attack that claimed the suspect’s life.

And police in Migori County are investigating a shooting incident in which a 37-year-old businessman was shot in the left leg by two unidentified men near his home in Adingo Village, Wasio Location, Suna East Sub-County.

The victim was reportedly heading home from his business when he was attacked a few metres from his gate on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

According to  police, the two suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, stopped and approached Outi from behind.

When he asked who they were, one of the men allegedly told him that they were his guests.

An altercation reportedly ensued as the victim attempted to establish their identities, during which one of the suspects drew a firearm and shot him in the left leg above the knee.

The two suspects immediately fled the scene on their motorcycle.

Police officers visited the scene following a report by George Jobando.

Investigators recovered one spent 9mm bullet head from the scene as part of the ongoing probe.

Despite his injuries, the man managed to ride himself to Migori County Referral Hospital, where he received treatment and was admitted in stable condition.

Police said the motive behind the shooting had not been established by the time the incident was reported.

Investigations are ongoing as detectives pursue leads to identify and apprehend the suspects
