    Márcio Garcia Machado is a multifaceted Brazilian entertainer born on April 17, 1970, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he continues to reside.

    At 55 years old, he has built a diverse career as an actor, television host, dublador (voice actor), writer, producer, and film director, becoming a prominent figure in Brazilian media since the early 1990s.

    He is married to nutritionist Andréa Santa Rosa since 2000, and the couple has three children: sons Pedro (born in 2003) and Felipe, and daughter Nina (born in 2005).

    Known for his tall stature of 1.91 meters and his passion for Brazilian jiu-jitsu, where he holds a black belt, Márcio comes from a family background that includes his parents, Carlos Alberto Machado and Eliana Machado.

    Márcio has three brothers named Marcelo (also known as Marcello, who works as a DJ), João Carlos, and Pedro, along with one sister named Carla.

    His mother, Eliana, and siblings have appeared in media discussions about his life, revealing personal anecdotes that portray Márcio as a dedicated family man who values these relationships.

    For instance, in 2016, his mother and brothers participated in an interview sharing intimate details about his personality and habits, underscoring the supportive role his siblings have played throughout his career.

    Career

    Garcia’s career began in 1993 as a presenter on MTV Brasil, where he quickly gained recognition for his charismatic on-screen presence, before transitioning to Rede Globo in 1994 to take on both acting and hosting roles.

    Early highlights included appearances in the teen soap opera Malhação and hosting programs like Gente Inocente from 2000 to 2002, a children’s show that showcased his ability to connect with younger audiences, as well as Video Show from 1997 to 1999, where he discussed television and celebrity topics.

    In 2004, he moved to RecordTV, hosting the reality show Sem Saída and the popular variety program O Melhor do Brasil from 2005 to 2008, which often led in ratings and solidified his status as a top host.

    Returning to Globo in 2008 with a lucrative contract, he expanded into lead acting roles, starring as Bahuan Sundrani in the telenovela Caminho das Índias in 2009, followed by parts in O Astro in 2011 and Amor à Vida in 2013 as Gustavo Donato, also known as Guto.

    His film work started with O Guarani in 1996, playing Peri, and continued with roles in movies like Xuxa Abracadabra in 2003, Carmo in 2008, and Loucas Pra Casar in 2015.

    As a director, he helmed the feature film Carmo in 2008, along with shorts like Predileção in 2009, Amor por Acaso in 2010, and Angie in 2012, and international projects such as Bed & Breakfast in 2010 and Open Road in 2012.

    Additionally, Márcio has excelled in voice dubbing, lending his voice to Diego in the Brazilian versions of the Ice Age franchise across multiple films from 2002 to 2016, as well as characters in Dr. Dolittle 2, Dragon Blade, and Paddington 2.

    Later hosting gigs included Tamanho Família from 2016 to 2020 and The Voice Kids from 2021 to 2022, though his contract with Globo ended in July 2024 after a period off-air.

    Accolades

    In 2008, Marcio received the Excellence in Acting award at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival for his performance in the film Carmo, which he also directed.

    He garnered several prizes for his short film Predileção in 2009, highlighting his skills as a director and producer.

    In 2010, Márcio was nominated for the Prêmio Qualidade Brasil in the category of Best Actor in a Miniseries for his work in Na Forma da Lei.
