Career
Johansson began his professional journey in Sweden with Färjestad BK in the SHL, where he contributed to the team’s Swedish championship in the 2008–09 season.
He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round, 24th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut with the Capitals in the 2010–11 season.
He spent several productive years in Washington, developing into a reliable middle-six forward known for his consistency and two-way play.
His tenure there included a career-high 24-goal, 58-point season in 2016–17.
Over the course of his NHL career, Johansson has played for multiple teams, including the New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Seattle Kraken, and a return stint with the Washington Capitals before joining the Minnesota Wild.
He reached the milestone of 1,000 NHL games in November 2025 while with the Wild, an achievement celebrated with emotional family moments involving his daughters.
