Longhorn Publishers PLC has announced the exit of its Chief Executive Officer, Maxwell Wahome, after a seven-year tenure at the helm.

The Board of Directors confirmed that Wahome will officially step down from his role on September 30, 2025.

In a statement, the board praised Wahome for his contribution to the company’s growth.

“We sincerely appreciate Mr. Wahome’s nine years of dedicated service and visionary leadership, which have been instrumental in expanding Longhorn’s footprint across West and Central Africa, driving digital innovation, and steering the CBC curriculum transition,” the statement read.
“His efforts have strengthened Longhorn’s market position and laid a strong foundation for future success.”

The board also announced that Prof. Githu Muigai, Chairman of Longhorn Publishers, has appointed Simon Ngigi as the Acting CEO with immediate effect.

Ngigi, who previously served as CEO of the company between 2015 and 2018, brings back a wealth of experience. With more than 20 years in strategic leadership, publishing, and educational content development, Ngigi is also well-versed in market expansion. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K).

“We extend our gratitude to Mr. Wahome and warmly welcome Mr. Ngigi back to the helm of leadership,” the board added.
