Slain Dusit D2 terror suspect Ali Salim Gichunge’s mother has been released on a Sh1 million bail with an alternative bond of Sh2 million.

Appearing before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku, Sakina Mariam Abdalla was charged with failing to disclose information to police about Gichunge’s whereabouts.

Abdalla is accused that on diverse dates between 2015 and 2019 at Kula Mawe area in Isiolo County, in breach of her duty as a parent, she failed to disclose information about her son to authorities.

The prosecution argued that the crucial information could have been used to prevent the deadly Dusit attack.

Considering the nature of the case, the suspect was released on strict conditions which include reporting to the Anti-Terror Police Unit on a monthly basis until the case is heard and concluded.

She was further directed to deposit all her travel documents with the court and not to contact any witnesses in the case.

The court stated that breach of the conditions will lead to cancellation of the bail and bond issued.

The case is set to be mentioned on April 1, 2019 for pre-trial.
