    Mudavadi Hails Kenya’s Recognition By The U.S. In Championing For Regional Peace

    Kenya has welcomed the recognition by the United States for its efforts in championing for peace within the region.

    Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said Kenya remains steadfast in ensuring the peace processes in the region and continent yield long lasting solutions.

    Mudavadi said this on Saturday when he hosted the U.S. senior advisor on Africa affairs Massad Boulos who led a high-level delegation for a courtesy visit at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

    “We appreciate Dr. Boulos’ recognition of Kenya’s proactive role in fostering peace and economic recovery in the region. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the U.S. in achieving the regions’ economic stability,” said Mudavadi.

    Mudavadi assured the U.S. that Kenya’s commitment aims at achieving a win-win solution to the warrying factions in the conflict prone regions.

    He said the peace and security agenda for the continent is a crucial undertaking that calls for collective efforts especially now that conflicts are draining most countries of key resources that could be channeled to economic progress.

    “Kenya has every interest to continue consolidating on the partnership with the U.S. appreciating the various humanitarian interventions aimed at helping achieve lasting solutions to peace in the trouble-stricken countries.”

    Mudavadi said since independence, Kenya has had 43 peace missions across the world, signifying an active role in the global peace initiatives with the latest Nairobi peace talks anchoring Kenya’s quest to have a region that appreciates peace and stability.

    Mudavadi has previously affirmed that Kenya’s foreign policy on mediation and peacemaking is on a high pedestal and Kenya has utilized its presidency to position the country as champions of the pan-African agenda of peace and security.

    He said Kenya further appreciates the continuous collaboration and interventions from the U.S. in a partnership that dates back to over six decades engaging on areas of progressive advancements especially in education, trade and investment, peace and security and various humanitarian fronts.

    Boulos revealed that President Trump’s administration fully backs the peace processed in Africa as well as in other regions like the middle east saying the push is to see citizen get back to their normal lives.

    “The U.S. understands that Kenya can still play a major role in these peace initiatives and we have keenly followed Kenya’s lead role and we are pursuing to see to it that an adoption of one fine greater plan to these peace processes,” said Buolos.

    He noted that all peace initiatives should be geared towards the right direction for the benefit of all citizens in the affected regions.

    “The bottom line is to get things done quickly and in an orderly manner for there is no time to waste or reason for any further delay.”

    Boulos the newly appointed senior advisor for Africa at the U.S. State Department is visiting Kenya amongst other African countries to advance efforts for durable peace and also promote U.S. private sector investment.
