Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen Tuesday rallied leaders across the country to join hands in ensuring 100 per cent transition of learners from Junior to Senior Secondary School.

Speaking in Kasige, Marakwet East Constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County, during the burial ceremony of the late Endo Ward Member of the County Assembly, Jeremiah Kibiwott Toryebee, the CS stressed on the collective responsibility of all leaders in keeping children in school.

“Let all of us work together to ensure full transition from junior to senior secondary school,” he said.

“The County Commissioner and the NGAO team have clear instructions to go to the villages and ensure that all children who are supposed to be in school are attending classes.”

Murkomen also wighed in on the government’s efforts to silence guns in Kerio valley area.

He commended the progress made in sustaining lasting peace and stability in the Kerio Valley, assuring residents that the government remains firm in its commitment to recover all illegally held firearms.

He issued a stern warning that any weapons not voluntarily surrendered will be repossessed.

“I want to assure you that the work we have undertaken here to repossess illegal firearms will continue until there are none left in civilian hands,” the Cabinet Secretary said.

He further announced the launch of special operations targeting suppliers of illicit alcohol and drug substances, through porous borders, adding that the government will take decisive action against all commercial networks involved in the manufacture, distribution, and supply of adulterated alcohol and drugs.
