As the debate on fake gold scam heats up, Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has now linked opposition chief Raila Odinga’s trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo to ongoing probe into the fraud.

According to Murkomen, Odinga went to DRC to manage the situation, as his right hand men, the likes of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and  Homabay county Woman Representative Gladys Wanga colludes with suspects to water down the fraud narrative.

“So he ( implying Odinga) went to Congo to manage the situation while Junet & Wanga were busy planning with the suspects how to counter the narrative?” Murkomen wrote.

Murkomen was replying to Junet’s tweet that a section of Rift Valley Members of Parliament had approached Zaheer Jhanda – a Kisii politician directly linked to the scam – with a proposal to link Odinga to the fake gold syndicate.

“I have been approached by four Rift Valley MPs to implicate Raila and Matiangi “ Zahir today’s Standard Newspaper. The four MPs are Hon Sudi, Hon Caleb Kositany, Hon Koech and Gov sang. Alafu mnapiga Pang’anga Huko Kitale eti fulani alipanda Ndege..” Junet wrote.

Murkomen went ahead to state that he’s hoping arrests will be made soon, saying the March 9 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga should not be used as excuse.

In the latest developments, an audio alleged to be a conversation between Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and his Saudi contact has emerged. In the phone conversation, Wetangula invokes the name of Odinga, Interior CS Matiang’i and President Uhuru into the multi-billion fraud.

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has since, through a statement, condemned the publishing and circulation of the audio.

The talks centered on building of the Kinshasa- Brazzaville bridge which is part of the Tripoli- Cape Town Trans Africa Highway.
