A night guard was found murdered at a school he was guarding in Bondeni area, Nakuru County.
Police identified him as Josephat Onyango, 55. His body was found lying in a classroom long after he had been murdered on January 8 dawn.
Police said the body had injuries in the head and that both hands and legs were tied using a rope when it was found.
A panga was found at a place the guard was seated before he was attacked at the Harambee Khalsa primary and junior secondary school.
Police said indications were that he was killed outside the class and his body was later dragged to the scene where it was found.
The said assailants broke into a number of offices including that of the principal and her deputy but nothing was stolen.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said on Friday the hunt on the assailants was ongoing.
Elsewhere, a man who had been assaulted in an altercation died in hospital. Police said Erick Mokua succumbed to the injuries in hospital where he had been rushed following the attack in Kipkelion, Kericho County.
Police said they are looking for suspects in the murder and that the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
And police in Bondo, Siaya County are investigating an incident where a rider took himself to the hospital with a bullet wound in the buttocks.
The rider claimed he was shot by unknown people on January 8 dawn in Nyawita centre.
The victim claimed he was ferrying a passenger in the area when he was shot. He realized he had an injury and blood stains.
An object that officials at the hospital was a bullet was found lodged in his left buttock. The matter is under probe.
