    Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo denies dubious papers claim

    Embattled Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo Thursday angrily fought back claims that he was in possession of dubious academic credentials.

    He described himself as one given to great book learning, adding that at some point he even lectured in university.

    The governor did not, however, support the claim with evidence as he addressed journalists in Borabu earlier Thursday.

    “Am a graduate with credible higher education papers, I have friends that were in class with me therefore treat whatever is being bandied out here about my papers as wild gossip,” stated Nyaribo.

    A fortnight ago, Nyaribo was put on spot by the senate over his academic papers with the members of the committee accusing him of lying about the same.

    He was especially taken to task about the claim that he had previously worked for the World Bank.

    Quickly the county boss distanced himself only saying he only had masters in Finance but never worked with the World Bank.

    Senator Okon’go Omogeni, a member of the committee, however, pushed the governor to explain to the Senate who forged the said academic papers he had presented.

    “Who faked the profile of the governor? Who takes responsibility its a serious crime to tender false information before a committee. Who did this Governor?” he posed.

    On Thursday, however, Nyaribo in a rare tirade accused Omogeni of misusing his political position to malign him.

    “When the Senator was here at Esise he alleged the Senate had requested my academic papers which was a lie.

    “I have submitted my papers to the Senate and other relevant agencies since 2013 and nobody has ever found fault with them.

    “For your information i have even taught in universities, so this is just malice and hogwash,” he stated.

    Nyaribo explained that the summons to the Senate were normal and that they only go to explain about how they had faired at the counties.

    “So I get summoned just like any other governor to clarify a few issues, this is normal, not what Omogeni is lying to people around,” Nyaribo stated.

    The Senator, stated Nyaribo, was always in the habit of engaging in a fishing expedition to pin him down with something however fake.

    “It is too low of him and I can attest I have never seen a Senator like him who is eternally bent on fighting his County and trying to do paint his leaders negative,” said Nyaribo.

    He further accused Omogeni of targeting governorship by persistent painting the County as dead.

    “He always comes to the Senate Committee sitting with a predetermined agenda, but he should by now know that am not coward either. Everything am doing for Nyamira people is above reproach, no coin has gotten lost.”

    He said Omogeni has constantly refused to even visit the County assembly and advise Ward Reps on oversight.

    Nyaribo further insisted Speaker Enock Okero as the bonafide Speaker and accused North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko of engineering divisions between him and his deputy.
