Siaya Senator and senate minority leader James Orengo has hit out at Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen over his remarks on the ongoing Mau Forest evictions.

Murkomen reportedly blamed ODM party leader Raila Odinga for the evictions and in the same breath is said to have disrespected the President, Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Some people who recently joined the government through the backdoor are working with some government officials to remove people from Mau,” Murkomen told the people of Narok.

Jubilee party leaders accused the majority leader of contradicting the party position. Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja asked the senate leader to desist from inciting Kenyans against the President’s big four agenda.

“… Building Bridges and the fight against corruption — as well as undermining his leadership will no longer be acceptable,” Sakaja said in a statement.

In a video that has since gone viral on the interwebs, Orengo said that Murkomen’s remarks on the very contentious issue proved that he is indeed “stupid.”

“Can Murkomen really claim to be in government and the evictions are ongoing and he has no answer except to blame Raila? If there is any man who sired an idiotic child, then Murkomen’s father is one,” Orengo said.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju also criticized the legislator saying that his remarks were personal and the Executive order will always prevail.

Speaking on Sunday, Deputy President William Ruto also called on leaders to steer clear of issues that could incite the people.

“As leaders, we have a right to speak about the issues affecting the people because our primary duty is serving public interest. But we must always talk with each other with decorum and respect as we seek best solutions to issues,” Ruto said.
