The Ministry of Health has announced the posting of 6,484 healthcare interns across the country. Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale confirmed on Friday that the interns will be deployed to accredited facilities starting July 1, 2025, as part of the 2025/2026 internship program.
According to the CS, the interns will undergo 12 months of supervised clinical training. This will give them practical experience in real healthcare settings as they prepare for full professional practice.
The interns include 1,147 medical officer interns, 87 dentist interns, 500 pharmacist interns, 659 clinical officers with a Bachelor of Science degree, 1,993 clinical officer interns with diploma qualifications, and 2,098 Bachelor of Science nursing officer interns.
“All eligible pre-interns are advised to collect their posting letters in person on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 9am at the Ministry of Health headquarters – Afya House, Nairobi,” said Duale.
He added that posting letters will only be issued upon presentation of a valid National Identification Card.
