The body of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga is currently being transported from his Opoda Farm home to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), where the main funeral service will be held.

The military-led convoy, carrying the casket draped in the national flag, left Opoda Farm moments ago amid emotional scenes. Thousands of mourners have lined up along the route, waving and singing as the hearse carrying Raila’s body passes by. Many are waving Kenyan flags and portraits of the late leader, while others raise their fists in salute, chanting liberation songs that defined his political journey.

The procession is being escorted by police outriders and senior military officers, maintaining a solemn yet dignified atmosphere as it winds its way to the university grounds.

Family members, church leaders, and dignitaries are already gathered at JOOUST, awaiting the arrival of the cortege. The university has been transformed into a sea of colour and emotion, with choirs singing hymns and security officers ensuring order as the nation bids farewell to one of its most influential leaders.

Raila Odinga will be laid to rest later today at his family home in Kang’o ka Jaramogi, Bondo.
