A suspect was shot and wounded in a confrontation with police outside a club in Kagunduni, Kabati, Muranga County.

Police said the suspect was in the company of others who had been waylaying and attacking pedestrians and especially revelers leaving a club in the area on February 6 dawn.

Police in the area were alerted and responded to the scene and said they found the men armed with pangas. The team said the suspects were four and had been harassing and robbing pedestrians.

It was then that one of the officers shot and injured a suspect in the ribs.

The other two suspects were arrested after they were roughed up in the drama and were all rushed to the hospital pending medical attention and grilling, police said.

Police said on Sunday they had intensified operations in the area to address cases of robberies being reported there.

In Sirembe, Siaya County a 14-year-old girl collapsed and died while in her classroom.

The incident happened as the grade eight pupils were in their morning preps on Friday, witnesses and police said.

Police said the incident happened at Asayi Comprehensive School and the cause of the incident was not immediately established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Muthithi, Muranga County, a murder suspect was arrested after a hunt. The suspect is linked to an earlier murder incident in the area.

And police in Makueni are investigating an incident where a suspect died in custody at the Makueni Remand Prisons. Officials said Dominic Muendo Wambua, 33 had been remanded at the facility on January 29, 2026 for assault causing actual bodily harm and is said to have collapsed and died at the facility on February 6 in the morning.
