Police said the suspect was in the company of others who had been waylaying and attacking pedestrians and especially revelers leaving a club in the area on February 6 dawn.

Police in the area were alerted and responded to the scene and said they found the men armed with pangas. The team said the suspects were four and had been harassing and robbing pedestrians.

It was then that one of the officers shot and injured a suspect in the ribs.

The other two suspects were arrested after they were roughed up in the drama and were all rushed to the hospital pending medical attention and grilling, police said.

Police said on Sunday they had intensified operations in the area to address cases of robberies being reported there.
