The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted rainfall in Nairobi, Western Kenya, and several other regions, signaling an end to the dry spell.

In its weather outlook for the period between March 4 and 10, 2025, the department stated that most parts of the country would remain sunny, dry, and hot.

However, occasional rainfall is expected later in the week in Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Central Kenya (including Nairobi), the Coast, southeastern lowlands, and parts of the northern region.

“Occasional rainfall expected later in the week over Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Central Kenya (incl. Nairobi), Coast, SE Lowlands & parts of the North,” the statement reads.

Temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C in many areas, while cooler conditions will prevail in the Central and Rift Valley regions.

Night temperatures could drop below 0°C in the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, parts of the Rift Valley, and the Mt. Kilimanjaro region.

In anticipation of the rains, farmers in Western Kenya have already begun preparing their land for planting.
