    Robert Gwisdek, born on January 29, 1984, in East Berlin, Germany, is a versatile German actor, musician, director, and author.

    Known for his multifaceted talents, he performs music under the stage name Käptn Peng as the frontman of the alternative hip-hop band Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi.

    The son of acclaimed actors Michael Gwisdek and Corinna Harfouch, he grew up immersed in the performing arts and has built a distinctive career blending film, theater, music, and creative writing.

    Robert is the son of actors Michael Gwisdek and Corinna Harfouch.

    He has a half-brother, Johannes Gwisdek (born 1980), who is also a musician and has collaborated with Robert under the names Shaban & Käptn Peng.

    The brothers released the album Die Zähmung der Hydra together in 2012.

    Career

    Gwisdek began acting as a child, appearing in one of his father’s films as early as 1988.

    He studied acting at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam and has since taken on numerous roles in film, television, and theater.

    Notable performances include roles in 3 Days in Quiberon (2018) and the critically acclaimed Dying (2024), where his nuanced acting has drawn praise.

    Parallel to his acting, Gwisdek pursued music as Käptn Peng, founding the band Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi around 2009–2012.

    He has released multiple albums and is known for his inventive lyrics and alternative hip-hop style.

    He has also directed short films, including Circuit (2013) and Homesick Scientists (2011), and authored a novel titled Der unsichtbare Apfel.

    Accolades

    Gwisdek earned a German Film Award (Deutscher Filmpreis) nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2013 and won the award in 2018 for his role in 3 Days in Quiberon.

    He received another nomination in the same category in 2024 for Dying.

    In 2025, he was honored with the Hans Vogt Film Prize from the city of Rehau.

    Additional recognitions include nominations at festivals such as the Max Ophüls Festival for his short films and other industry nods for his musical and directorial work.
