President William Ruto has appointed former Meru Governor and former Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Competition Authority of Kenya.
In a Gazette Notice dated June 26, 2026, President Ruto named Murungi to the position for a three-year term, effective June 26, 2026.
The appointment also revokes the appointment of Charles Mahinda, who previously served as the board chairperson.
In the same Gazette Notice, the President reappointed Joseph M’eruaki M’uthari as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) for another three-year term.
Ruto also reappointed Stanley Kiptis as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), also for a period of three years.
The appointments take effect from June 26, 2026, in accordance with the respective provisions of the law governing the state corporations.
