William Ruto has appointed Dr. Kepha Nyamweya Omae as the new Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, alongside seven members to the commission for a six-year term.
The appointments were announced through a Gazette Notice dated May 8, 2026, following nominations made by the President last month.
Dr. Omae takes over from Rev. Dr. Samuel Kobia, who has served in the role since 2019.
The newly appointed commission members include Josephine Kirion Eragae, Joseph K. Nguyo, Jackson Swadi Kedogo, Dr. Samuel Mwachiro Mwawasi, Irene Chepoisho Tulel, Hassan Billow Ahmed, and Jerusah Mwaathime Michael.
The NCIC plays a key role in promoting national cohesion, integration, and addressing ethnic and social tensions across the country.
In a separate appointment, the President named Dr. Julius Murori Mbijiwe as an Ambassador in the Foreign Service of the Republic of Kenya.
Dr. Mbijiwe, an academic and public administrator, was earlier nominated in April 2026 to serve as Kenya’s Ambassador to the Vatican (Holy See). He previously served as Chief of Staff in Meru County and holds a PhD in Project Planning and Management.
During his vetting, he declared a net worth of approximately Sh80 million.
