President William Ruto has announced new appointments and reappointments to the boards of several state agencies.
In a gazette notice dated January 9, 2026, the President reappointed Dr Stephen Mairori as the non-executive chairperson of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA). Dr Mairori will serve for three years, starting January 20, 2026.
The President also reappointed Walter Nyambati as the non-executive chairperson of the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) board for another three-year term.
Joseph Ogendo was appointed non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Trade Network Agency board. His term takes effect from January 9, 2026, and will run until May 25, 2026.
In addition, President Ruto appointed Dennis Mwirigi as the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency board for a period of three years.
Daniel Chemno was also appointed as the non-executive chairperson of the board of directors of the New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union for a three-year term, effective February 10, 2026.
The appointments were made under Section 6(1)(a) of the State Corporations Act, which gives the President powers to appoint and reappoint board members of state corporations.
