William Ruto on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, held talks with Arnaud Suquet at State House, Nairobi, focusing on preparations for the upcoming Africa Forward Summit and the G7 Summit.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed plans to host the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi on May 11–12, which will mark the first time the event is being held in a non-Francophone country.

In a statement shared on X, President Ruto noted that Kenya and France continue to enjoy strong bilateral relations anchored on shared values and mutual interests. He added that France remains one of Kenya’s leading investors.

The President said both countries are expanding cooperation across key sectors, including green industrialisation, the blue economy, agriculture, health, digital innovation, infrastructure and education, with the aim of unlocking greater opportunities for citizens.

“We reviewed our joint preparedness to host the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi on May 11–12, marking the first time the Summit will be held in a non-Francophone country, and a significant milestone in broadening its reach and impact,” Ruto stated.

He added that the summit will provide a platform to engage on critical issues such as reforming the international financial architecture and strengthening secure, sustainable economic partnerships.

The meeting also addressed the upcoming G7 Summit, to which Kenya has been invited by Emmanuel Macron.

According to Ruto, the timing of the G7 Summit—immediately after the Africa Forward Summit—presents an opportunity for Kenya to advance Africa’s priorities on the global stage and strengthen the link between regional perspectives and international decision-making.
