Safaricom has embarked on killing ISPs in Kenya through a 5Mbps Fibre-to-Home internet link. The service which is currently on trial mode in Nyayo Estate Embakassi, will see some home users clock even 100Mbps speeds while downloading.
Residents already hooked to the service have confessed that this is the kind of internet link which they have always wanted in their life and not the 1 or 2 Mbps link which most ISPs is currently offering.
Through the Safaricom link, most users can now stream their best shows and get to attend courses in online campuses like Udemy without the infinite buffering experienced in some connections. Safaricom has disrupted the comfort of providers like Frontier Telecom (retail arm of Soliton Telmec) and Zuku who started rolling out internet connection in the estate before anyone else.
The service costs Ksh 2,999 per month and there is nothing like the expensive connection expenses others would require from you. Now this is disruptive.
