The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has revealed that Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal’s property was fraudulently acquired.

The anti-corruption body now wants the governor’s assets frozen.

According to the commission’s detectives, the governor’s Ksh300 million Karen residence that sits on the one acre piece of land, which is on their radar, was acquired in the financial year of 2016/2017.

His residential home in Milimani estate and another in Maralal town have been reported to also be in the anti-corruption body’s watch.

The Milimani home is estimated to be worth Ksh100 million, while the commercial residential apartment that the governor is alleged to have constructed in 2017 in Maralal is valued at Ksh20 million.

Additionally, EACC also wants the governor’s Red Rock Resort in Maralal town, along Maralal-Kisima road seized.

According to them, the 20 cottages resort, sitting on a 5-acre land was also developed through funds acquired in a questionable way.

Lenolkulal’s Oryx filing station and complex, worth Ksh90 million have been listed for freezing.

The agency has also cracked down on other properties owned by county officials claimed to have been beneficiaries of irregular contracts and kickbacks.

EACC further divulged that most of the county officials awarded themselves contracts worth over Ksh700 million, through their own companies, despite them having delivered nothing.

This crack down follows a raid that was carried out at the governor’s homes on Wednesday morning.
