A section of Mombasa Road near the Syokimau Railway Station will be closed temporarily to allow for construction works, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced.

In a public notice, KeNHA said the Nairobi-bound carriageway will be closed in two phases: first from Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 pm to Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 6:00 am, and again from Saturday, June 21, at 10:00 pm to Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 6:00 am.

“Temporary traffic disruption on Mombasa Road (A8) near Syokimau Railway Station Nairobi bound carriageway from Friday June 20, 2025 at 10:00 pm to Saturday June 21, 2025 at 6:00 am and from Saturday June 21, 2025 at 10:00 pm to Sunday June 22, 2025 at 6:00 am,” KeNHA said in a notice

The road closure is necessary to facilitate the safe installation of a fabricated footbridge beam at the Syokimau Railway Footbridge.

Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes during the period and to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be stationed at the site to guide traffic and ensure safety.
