A section of the Ngong–Suswa Road has been closed for 30 days to allow for major construction works, the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has announced.
According to a public notice issued by KeRRA, the affected stretch is between Matonyok and the junction to the Kenya Institute of Building and Highway Technology (KIBHT).
The closure has been implemented in phases. The section between Ngere Road Junction and the junction to KIBHT was closed starting May 12, 2025. The stretch from Matonyok to Ngere Road Junction will remain closed until June 11, 2025.
“This closure is necessary to allow the contractor to carry out major construction works under constrained site conditions,” the statement read.
KeRRA noted that the temporary diversions previously put in place were not adequate and had raised safety concerns, especially during rainy weather.
Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes during the closure.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve this vital infrastructure,” the authority said.
