Nyamira Ward Representatives Tuesday claimed stumbling on used condoms and beer cans within the chamber premises as the standoff between two rival camps continue to persist.
The discovery Tuesday sparked both fury and consternation from the majority of MCAs allied to Assembly Speaker Enock Okero.
Okero has been presiding the sittings away from the official chambers following skirmishes between two rival camps.
Ward Reps who turned up in Keroka during a Bunge Mashinani sitting, fingered the anti Okero band for the Monday night debauchery of the Assembly chambers.
Assembly Deputy Speaker Abwo Mose, also Magwagwa MCA, who presided the sitting expressed shock over the desecration and demanded an inquiry into the incident.
“The assembly is a place of dignity and public service. Such items being found here is both inappropriate and alarming,” he stated.
The Assembly has been in the eye of a storm for functioning under parallel leadership—one led by former Ekerenyo Member of County Assembly (MCA) Thadeus Ndubi and the other by substantive Speaker Enock Okero.
By Tuesday evening it had not been made clear on who breached the security of the county assembly and engaged in wild sex.
Photos gleaned show beer cans suspected to had been used during the orgy Monday night.
Rigoma MCA Nyambega Gisesa said the incident raises grave security queries.
“It definitely raises troubling questions about the preparedness of our security agencies to deal with such situations,” added Gisesa.
What occurred, he stated, constitutes a serious security breach that demands a quick probe to unearth the miscreants behind it.
The Ward Reps appear to finger Senator Okong’o Omogeni and West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka of funding the chaos and divisions wracking the assembly.
The Senate had weighed on this matter and asked that there be harmony.
“We expected that those funding these chaos could concentrate on doing their roles without jeopardizing the operations of the County assembly.”
“It has gotten scary that goons are now roaming freely with machetes into the assembly causing such barbaric scenes as the one we witnessed at the assembly,” said Gisesa.
He asked for investigations into the incident.
Mogaka and Okongo had not issued response into the allegations.
The Assembly sitting in Keroka was attended by 21 MCAs against the 11 that are contesting Okero as the House speaker.
The ward reps now want the national administration to enhance security and intelligence gathering with view to bringing the perpetrators to book .
“It disturbs the conscience that two known legislators can bankroll violence and go scot free. If they are banking on violence to secure victory come 2027,they are lying to themselves,” stated Gisesa.
