An angry and fed up Airgate Mall formerly known as Taj Mall owner Rameshchandra Govind Gorasia on Thursday asked the government to bring down the multi billion shilling building.

The business owner told reporters that he is tired of the constant threats from authorities.

“If you want to demolish this building do it, I don’t care, I am tired of hearing about its demolition now for over five years,” said Gorasia.

“I have suffered enough since rumours of demolitions losing Sh2 to 3 billion in rentals, it is enough. Please bring it down even now. I don’t care,” he added.

But Mr Gorasia has also asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to turn the building into a hospital, market or school instead of pulling it down.

He also noted that demolishing the building would be a total waste as it is not sitting on public land as has been alleged.

The building will be demolished on August 30, giving tenants two weeks to vacate premises.

He has also refuted claims that Deputy President William Ruto has a stake in the building.

“Ruto has zero shares. I can show you the title. I’m the owner of Taj Mall,” he told a local daily.
