A 32-year-old secondary school teacher was killed in a suspected murder allegedly committed by her husband in Mutitu North Sub-County, Kitui County.
The victim, identified as Hellen Ngindu Matuvi, a teacher at Itiko Secondary School, was travelling as a pillion passenger on a motorcycle ridden by her husband, when the incident occurred near Nguni Drift.
According to police, the suspect stopped the motorcycle by the roadside before both of them alighted. Eyewitnesses told investigators that he allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp object, inflicting a deep stab wound on the left side of her ear.

Good Samaritans rushed the seriously injured teacher to Mutitu Mission Hospital, accompanied by the suspect. However, she was pronounced dead on arrival after suffering severe blood loss.
The suspect was admitted to the same hospital, claiming he had also been injured in the alleged accident. Police later arrested him for questioning after preliminary investigations pointed to a suspected homicide.
The body of the deceased was transferred to Mutitu Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as detectives continue with investigations into the incident.
