Teresia Wanjiku Gathagu has been appointed as the new Registrar of Societies in Kenya.
The appointment was made by Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor through a gazette notice dated April 17, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Societies Act, the Attorney-General appoints Teresia Wanjiku Gathagu to be the Registrar of Societies,” the notice reads.
Before her appointment, Wanjiku served as Chief State Counsel at the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning.
The Registrar of Societies is a key position under the Societies Act, responsible for registering and regulating societies in Kenya.
These include religious groups, charitable organizations, clubs, welfare groups, and political parties.
