Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama is among sportsmen and women set to receive the Head of State Commendation (HSC) from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Former marathon great Tegla Loroupe will also be feted alongside the late legendary boxer Robert Wangila Napunyi.
The ceremony to award them plus other distinguished Kenyans will take place at the State House after today’s Jamhuri Day celebrations currently ongoing at the Nyayo Stadium.
HSC recognizes outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities.
Wanyama has been a shining light in Kenyan football and recently led the Harambee Stars in qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

To date he remains the only East African to have graced the lucrative English Premier League.
Other sportsperson who recently received the HSC includes rugby sevens brothers Collins Injera and Humphrey Kayange and boxing queen Fatuma Zarika.
