Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Mombasa have arrested two suspected traffickers and recovered 250 grammes of heroin following a targeted operation in Nyali.

The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated raid at Maweni Estate, which was launched after investigators received credible intelligence linking the individuals to drug trafficking and child trafficking activities.

During the search of a house believed to have been used to facilitate the illicit trade, detectives recovered three sachets of heroin. The occupants of the residence, identified as Amir Latf and Ruhman Abubakar, were immediately arrested.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two are not only involved in narcotics trafficking but are also suspected to be part of a wider child trafficking network operating across Mombasa, Malindi, and Nairobi.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, pending their arraignment in court.

The DCI said the arrest underscores its commitment to combating drug and child trafficking through intelligence-led operations, aimed at dismantling criminal networks and protecting vulnerable children.

Members of the public have been urged to report any information related to drug or child trafficking through the DCI’s anonymous reporting channels under the Fichua Kwa DCI initiative. Reports can be made via the toll-free number 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp 0709 570 000.
