The University of Nairobi (UON) has De-registered Meru Senator Mithika Linturi’s degree over fake academic papers.

The university says that the certificates the Senator used to to join the university were allegedly fake.

In June of this year the High court had barred the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) from probing the academic qualification of the Meru senator.

His name was among the 106 names of leaders that the EACC had forwarded to the electoral agency for having pending integrity issues.

The EACC probe had established that the Senator was not a graduate of the University of Nairobi and that he had falsified a form that he presented to the IEBC in2013.

The High court allowed the EACC to continue with the investigation.
