IEBC has given updates indicating that around 48% of the 19 million registered voters in Kenya voted in the repeat elections.
That means that President Uhuru needs only around 4.5 million more votes to be declared as duly elected. In the update, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati also indicated that voting occurred in 87% of the polling stations meaning that NASA’s poll boycott call was not so effective in having most parts of the country stay away from the polling centers.
The update has been disputed by most NASA leaders active online with them claiming that Chebukati is sexing up the figures to ensure that President Uhuru is re-elected.
More than 35,000 polling stations experienced some voting with 27,000 votes already tallied and results uploaded onto the portal.
