Detectives are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 44-year-old at her home in Got Oyaro area, Homa Bay County.
The body of Everlyne Ongaro was found near Doho beach on January 5 after she was stabbed.
Police said the suspected assailant was her boyfriend who is a fisherman in the area.
The motive of the stabbing was not immediately established but locals said the two had quarreled before the man attacked the woman.
The body had stab wounds in the stomach.
Police who visited the scene said they recovered the murder weapon as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
The hunt on the suspected assailant continued on Wednesday, police said.
Such murder incidents have been on the rise and linked to love triangle and land disputes in villages.
In Kiamumbi area, Kiambu County, police said they are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found on the roadside.
The body was found on Tuesday along the Ruiru-Kamiti road near a local stream and it had visible injuries with blood oozing from the ear.
It is not clear what led to the murder of Stephen Mwaura aged 27, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.
Police revisited the scene on Wednesday as part of their investigations into the murder. The team said they did not recover any killer weapon then and added investigations were moving on well.
Elsewhere in Ekerenyo, Nyamira County, a man was stabbed and seriously wounded in a feud. This happened as the victim squared out with another man in Bokurati village. The assailant escaped the scene after the incident as the victim was rushed to the hospital. Police said they are searching for the assailant for grilling to establish the motive.
