    Woman found dead outside her house after night quarrel in Busia

    A 55-year-old woman was found dead outside her house in Bwaliro B Sub-location, Butula Sub-County, Busia County, in an incident being investigated as suspected murder.

    The deceased, identified as Catherine Chesa Achieng, was discovered early Tuesday morning, September 15, 2026.

    Police officers rushed to the scene located approximately five kilometres north of Butula Police Station.

    According to police, the woman’s body lying outside her house.

    There were no physically visible injuries on the body.

    Her husband was reportedly found asleep inside the main house, whose door was locked. The couple were allegedly heard quarrelling during the night, prompting investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

    Police processed the scene before removing the body to Sega Same-Day Mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

    The man was detained pending investigations as detectives work to establish what led to the woman’s death and determine whether criminal culpability is involved.

    Elsewhere, police in Nambale, Busia County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 42-year-old man whose body was discovered outside a rental plot in Nambale Town.

    The deceased, identified by police as Saleh, was found on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after the landlord visited his plot and discovered the body outside the rental houses.

    Police said they visited the scene and found the lifeless body lying in a pool of blood, with blood reportedly oozing from the mouth and ears.

    The man was suspected to have been struck with a blunt object on the back of his head. The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and death remain under investigation.

    Saleh was reportedly living in one of the rental houses with a woman identified as Millie, who was not found at the house or the scene when police arrived. Investigators are seeking to establish her whereabouts and whether she may have information relevant to the case.

    Police also discovered that the deceased’s clothes inside the rental house had been set ablaze and were still smouldering when officers inspected the premises.

    Police and locals said that the two had allegedly been involved in frequent domestic quarrels and disagreements.

    The scene was processed and documented, while the body was moved to Busia County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.

    Police investigations are ongoing to establish the events leading to the man’s death and identify those responsible.
