A meeting to discuss the pregnancy of a woman turned tragic when the man accused of being responsible for the issue turned violent and fatally stabbed one in Kayole, Nairobi.

The victim is the mother of a 19-year-old woman who had been impregnated by a 17-year-old boy.

Police said the boy had been summoned for a meeting to discuss the pregnancy when a scuffle broke out on May 4, 2025.

The boy reached out a knife, which he used to stab the woman in the right torso from the back occasioning her serious bleeding.

A sister of the deceased was also injured on both hands and mouth and was admitted to a local hospital, police said.

The suspect was arrested pending further action.

A knife was recovered at the scene as well as a bottle with suspected turpentine liquid, which the suspect had used in an attempt to commit suicide, police said.

Police said the suspect had come to the scene ready for murder and suicide.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

Elsewhere in Geta, Trans Nzoia County, a 17-year-old boy fatally stabbed his elder brother aged 32 in an argument over Sh100.

The incident happened on Saturday May 3 in Laini Moja Village and saw Charles Koech killed.

Police said the deceased’s mother had left Sh100 for use by the sons to prepare their lunch.

The money somehow went missing, prompting an argument between the two brothers.

It was during the argument that the 17-year-old boy reached out for a knife and fatally stabbed his elder brother.

He was later arrested and was expected to be arraigned, police said adding the body was moved to the Kitale County Referral Hospital morgue, where it awaits autopsy.

Murder cases have been on the rise amid efforts to contain the trend.
