Zachary McGowan, born on May 5, 1980, in New York City, is an American actor and voice-over artist known for his dynamic roles in television and film.
Raised on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, McGowan grew up in a family of Irish and Russian Jewish descent, with his father, Vincent, a former U.S. Marine, and his mother, Brenda, employed at United Airlines.

McGowan’s acting career began in 2003 on New York City’s off-Broadway stages, where he refined his craft before relocating to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue film and television opportunities.

His screen debut came in 2006 as Jackson in the direct-to-video war film The Hunt for Eagle One, followed by its sequel, The Hunt for Eagle One: Crash Point.
In 2007, he appeared on the reality show Two Dudes Catering and made his scripted television debut as Kurt Greenfield in an episode of CSI: Miami.
McGowan’s breakthrough came in 2011 with his role as Jody Silverman, a tattoo artist with a complex personal arc, in Showtime’s Shameless, transitioning from a guest star in season two to a series regular in season three.
