Zander James Ragnar Fagerson is a Scottish professional rugby union player who plays as a tighthead prop for Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship and the Scotland national team.
Born on 19 January 1996 in Perth, Scotland, he grew up largely in Kirriemuir in the Angus region after his family relocated there.
He stands approximately 1.88 metres tall and weighs around 125-126 kilograms.
Educated at the High School of Dundee and Strathallan School, Fagerson developed through the age-grade pathways, representing Scotland at under-16, under-18 and under-20 levels.
Beyond rugby, he was the Scottish Youth Downhill Mountain Bike Champion in 2010, sang with the NYCoS National Boys Choir, and is a qualified lifeguard.
Siblings
Zander is the eldest of five children.
He has three younger brothers – Matt, Agris and Nathanael – and one sister, Rachel.
Matt is also a professional rugby player who operates as a back-row forward for Glasgow Warriors and Scotland; the brothers have frequently played together for both club and country, becoming the 48th set of siblings to represent Scotland in a Test match when Matt debuted against the United States in 2018.
Nathanael was previously on the books at Bath.
Rachel has represented Scotland at age-grade level in hockey and has been involved with the Scotland hockey squad.

Career
Fagerson made his professional debut for Glasgow Warriors in October 2014 against Benetton Treviso as an 18-year-old, coming off the bench in a match reduced to 13 men and helping secure a victory.
He became the youngest player to reach 50 appearances for the club at the age of 21.
He has remained a mainstay at Scotstoun, amassing a large number of appearances and contributing significantly to the pack’s set-piece and carrying game.
He was part of the Glasgow side that won the Pro12 title in 2015, though his involvement was early in his career, and he played a central role in the club’s 2024 United Rugby Championship triumph, starting in the final against the Bulls in Pretoria.
Glasgow also reached the 2023 EPCR Challenge Cup final during his tenure.
On the international stage, Fagerson earned his Scotland debut as a replacement against England in the 2016 Six Nations at Murrayfield, becoming one of the youngest props to represent the country and the youngest in more than 50 years.
He has since become a consistent selection under Gregor Townsend, featuring regularly in the Six Nations and other Test series.
He played at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, where he scored a try against the hosts, and at the 2023 tournament in France alongside his brother Matt.
In 2021 he was selected for the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa, becoming Lion No. 848 and featuring in four midweek matches.
He was named in the 2025 Lions squad for the tour of Australia but was forced to withdraw due to a calf injury.
Accolades
Fagerson was selected for the United Rugby Championship Team of the Season in 2023/24 and has been recognised in other seasonal dream teams.
His club achievements include contributing to Glasgow Warriors’ 2024 URC title win and earlier Pro12 success.
At international level, his two Rugby World Cup appearances, Lions selection in 2021 (with a further call-up in 2025), and longevity as a Test starter mark key milestones.
