The Selection Panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has shortlisted 16 candidates for interviews.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) had declared the position vacant on April 28, 2026, with applications closing on May 19, 2026.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, May 26, Selection Panel Chairperson Dr. Reuben Chirchir announced that interviews for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted from June 3 to June 5, 2026, at the Public Service Commission offices along Harambee Avenue in Nairobi.

Candidates scheduled for interviews on June 3 include Jaafar Mohamed Sabir, Patrick Blasius Owiny, Demas Tuikong Kiprono, Kennedy Omoro Mosoti, and Wayongo Cyril Simiyu.

Those set to appear before the panel on June 4 are Vincent Agala Chokaa, Jacinta Nyaboke Nyamosi, Thomas Letangule, Elizabeth Atieno Ayoo, Geoffrey Mogendi Nyaaga, and Juliet Wanjiku Murimi.

On June 5, the panel will interview Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri-Zaja, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Walubengo Waningilo, Duncan Ojwang Oburu, and Longet Terer.

“The Selection Panel informs the shortlisted candidates that the interviews will be conducted on the date and time indicated above at the Public Service Commission, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi,” the notice read.

The panel directed all shortlisted candidates to report to the venue at least 20 minutes before their scheduled interview time.

Members of the public have also been invited to submit any credible information relating to the shortlisted candidates.

According to the notice, such information should be submitted through sworn affidavits and delivered by hand to the Office of the Secretary/CEO of the Public Service Commission, located on the fourth floor of Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi, on or before Friday, May 29, 2026.

The successful candidate will replace former chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan, who vacated the position after being appointed and sworn in as a Judge of the Court of Appeal earlier this year.
