Interior CS Matiangi’i has asked governors and other VIPs to support the reforms that are being made by police to recall over 5000 police officers that were irregularly assigned.

He said that governors should have a maximum of four officers but most governors had exceeded their limit.

He said that the government cannot move a whole police station to governors offices, He was speaking referring to governor Sonko who had seen the reduction of police officers from 26 to 5 as a threat to his life. The governor has since moved to his Machakos home citing that his life was in danger.

“Let us learn to use common sense as well. We can’t move a police station to your office,” Matiang’i said.

CS Matiang’i said that the same would be done to all the VIPs who get security from police officers.
