Britania Foods Limited workers have accused the top management of irregularly running the company that was in 2017 acquired by Nairobi-based private equity firm Catalyst Principal Partners.

Sources who sought anonymity say that the Chief Executive, Robert Kagundah is involved in corruption scandals where he reportedly awards contracts to those close to him. Also involved in this mess, Kahawa Tungu has learnt, is the Sales Director Elijah Maina.

A staffer privy to the details says that Mr Kagundah awarded a catering and cake supply contract to CIVA cakes, owned by Cynthia B. Orenge.

Ms Orenge was reportedly fired from the Karen Country Club for indecent behaviour. She was sacked, the source intimates, after the management learnt that she was sleeping around with club members, including Mr Kagundah.

He also is said to have purchased a Mercedes Benz (Registration Number KCD 227B) from suppliers of the Somali descent who also supplied the company with Toyota Fielders.

Word has it that the executive frequents Ms Orenge’s Park Garden Estate home in Lang’ata and has been caught having drinks with her at ungodly hours of the night.

Workers also say that Britania, before getting into business with Catalyst presented an enticing deal which the buyer has now discovered was fraudulent.

“As soon as Catalyst acquired Jambo, they found out the Dawda family had cooked its books to entice Catalyst to acquire the company. It was however too late as the transaction was complete. Britania has for months now tried to clean its books and things are not adding up,” a source divulged.

Kahawa Tungu has also learnt that the board has given Mr Kagundah two months to turn things around at the company that has been around for over two decades, or risk getting fired.

Employees are however still worried as private equity firms almost always get rid of the entire management team and not just the CEO.

The staffers want Mr Kagundah gone because his continued stay at the company is ‘causing us anxiety and discomfort.’
