The husband of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) female officer who was murdered in her house in Migori is among three suspects arrested for questioning over the incident.

Police revisited the scene on Christmas Day and recovered what they termed as key exhibits in the murder.

The motive of the murder remains undisclosed.

The team recovered a black sweat pants, a grey sweater, grey sport shoes and a navy blue cap suspected to be the attire worn by the husband of the deceased.

Officers also visited the shop of the husband to the deceased located at Cool Plaza and recovered a panga with red stains. The police also detained the woman’s mother-in-law and a brother to the husband over the murder.

Police said they were pursuing more leads on possible suspects in the murder.

The body of Second Lieutenant Cynthia Awour Mboya was found in her matrimonial home in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The deceased was aged 28 and was attached to Gilgil Barracks.

She was on leave at the time of her death.

Police said they are investigating murder in the incident. She was alone at the time her body was found.

Police officers visited the house and found the officer’s lifeless body lying on the floor beside her bed in a pool of blood.

Preliminary observations revealed that the deceased had deep cut wounds and visible signs of strangulation on the neck, pointing to a violent struggle before her death.

Her husband told police he arrived home from Migori Town at around 1:00 a.m. and found all the doors to the house wide open.

Upon entering the bedroom, he allegedly discovered his wife lying motionless on the floor.

Police further noted that two mobile phones, a Samsung and a Tecno Camon 12 Pro, belonging to the deceased were missing from the house.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown and the body was later moved to Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Murder incidents have been on the rise in the past days amid efforts to solve them.
