A man was beaten to death as he demanded Sh7,000 owed to him over work he had done at a charcoal burning site in Kinna, Isiolo County.

Police said they had arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Hussein Shune. Shune had gone to the site to demand a debt he was owed over supply of two charcoal kilns.

This prompted an altercation that led to him being fatally assaulted. Police visited the scene and found the body of the man lying under a tree hours after his murder.

The deceased’s trousers had been lowered to the knee point, police said.

Police said they recovered a blood stained charcoal kiln support cane believed to have been the murder weapon as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Two witnesses were questioned over the incident which happened on February 20, 2026.

Elsewhere in Limbine, Tigania, Meru County, a casual labourer was found dead with deep cuts on his body.

Police said Francis Kamwitha, 40 was killed by unknown people on February 21 when his body was found on the roadside.

Police said on Sunday they knew the suspect behind the murder and efforts to arrest him were ongoing.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

And a man died by suicide after he unsuccessfully tried to kill his siblings and set their house on fire in Suneka area, Kisii County.

The body of Josep Omambia, 28 was found on the roadside hour after he had swallowed a poisonous chemical in his house.

This followed a bitter quarrel with his family during which he tried to set his house on fire and attacked some members with an axe.

The body was found on the Suneka-Nyangoge road hours after he had left his home, police said as they moved it to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Sengera, Manga, Nyamira County, the body of one Abel Arisa, 40 was found lying on a sofa set after he had died.

The cause of the death was not immediately established, police said of the February 20 incident as they moved the body to the mortuary for other procedures.

Separately, two people were lynched by mobs in Vihiga and Nairobi. Police said the victims were accused of being thieves. Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid efforts to contain the menace.
