Police in Meru County launched a manhunt for a suspect linked to the brutal killing of a 49-year-old man in Mutuati Sub-county.
According to the police, the body of Isaiha Ntokusiana was found lying in a pool of blood on a farm belonging to a resident on the morning of April 14.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased had sustained deep cuts on the back of his shoulder and left hand, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident may have been triggered by a disagreement between the deceased and the suspect reportedly over the sharing of meat.
Police said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack, escaping with the alleged murder weapon. A manhunt has since been launched to apprehend him.
The body of the deceased was moved to Nyambene District Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Authorities have urged members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect as investigations continue.
Elsewhere, police in Bungoma County are investigating a suspected drowning incident after the body of a woman was recovered from River Teremi in Kopsiro Sub-county.
According to the police, the incident was reported on April 14.
The decomposing body of a female was retrieved from the river after it was found trapped between rocks. She was later identified as Susy Papa, believed to be a resident of Cheptotor area.
The body was moved to Delight Funeral Home in Kimilili for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Scenes of Crime officers documented and processed the scene as investigations into the incident continue.
Elsewhere, police in Kiambu County are investigating a drowning incident in which a 26-year-old man lost his life in River Athi near Pipeline area, Magogoni, Thika East Sub-county.
The incident was reported on April 14 after members of the public alerted authorities through the area Member of County Assembly, Hon. Joachim Njama.
Police officers from Ngoliba Police Station, alongside detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Thika East, visited the scene located approximately five kilometres west of the station.
The body of Paul Kariuki Chege was retrieved from the river by local divers after he reportedly drowned while swimming with friends.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased had been swimming in the river when the incident occurred.
The scene was documented and processed, and the body was moved to General Kago Mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning are ongoing.
