Moses Wekesa has officially assumed office as the substantive Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) with effect from April 17, 2026.

Wekesa takes over from Mohamud Gedi, who had been serving in an acting capacity. The handover ceremony was overseen by the Authority’s Board.

In a statement, KAA said the Board, management and staff expressed appreciation to Dr. Gedi for his dedicated service and leadership during his tenure.

“We take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Moses Wekesa on his appointment as the Authority’s substantive Managing Director/CEO and look forward to his stewardship in advancing KAA’s mandate of developing, managing and operating safe, secure and efficient airports across the Authority’s aerodrome network,” the statement said.

Wekesa brings extensive experience in managing high-impact projects across multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, the Pacific and Africa.

Prior to his appointment, he served as Business Development Director at Kenya Electricity Generating Company, where he led key business growth initiatives.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Applied Mechanics) from University of Nairobi, and postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Appraisal and Project Planning from University of Bradford.
